3 weeks in Tibet
- September 2005

I was travelling by car in eastern
Tibet together with Primoz Peer, Slovenia and Anna Lorenzon, Italy. We had a driver, Mo, who is a specialist in these kinds of driving. Also a guide, Jack, who had studied Buddhism for 3 years. Jack is also interested in dogs, and is breeding Old English Sheepdogs. To have a guide with an interest in dogs, was a hughe help for us. We has had a lovely time meeting lots of dogs. Thousands of Tibet Mastiff, many Tibetan Spaniels and Lhasa Apso and a few Tibetan Terriers. But also Pekingese, and Khyi Apso. |
We visited many monastries, and a nunnery. Monastries of all
the 5 sekt. The nunnery was yellow sekt.
Enjoyed the landscape, travelling on an altitude of 3- 4000. The highest
point was on a pass on an altitude of 5100. Got a chance
the learn the living when staying in small villages just for walking
around, having lunch or staying overnights at guesthouses.
Eating tsampa, drinking Tibetan tea, but mostly having other Tibetan
food, eating with chopsticks.
We were very lucky to arrive in an openingceremoni of a stupa. The
ceremony was going to be held for 7 days, and we arrived
at the first day. Monks were praying in a special tent, and a lama was
putting the last blessing hand on the stupa.
We also got to see a skyburielplace, and was told about the ceremony in
such burials, who still is used.
In one other region they had a different kind of burials, waterburials
for children and those who had been murdered and treeburials for others.
There were many chorten and manistone-piles, that we saw during our stay
in Tibet, and we visited one of the largest manistonepiles.
A family invited us into their house, and we got to see how they lived.
That was very intersting, and different from our lives.
We also has visit many nomads, talked to them and watch their dogs of
course. Learned how their life is like, and the life of their dogs.
We also meet nomads when they was moving, so we could see how that was
done.
Very few parts of the road was paved. Sometimes one could not
even see that there was a road.
Landslides and roads being washed away was something we meet every day.
The road up to Babang monastry had become damaged by the creek, who had
turned into a wild river. The next day we instead
walked up. A climbing straight up from an alitude of
3600 to 3800. It was all worth it for the beauty, and we also meet a living
Buddha and got his blessing in a special ceremony.
We also visited kennels, mostly Tibetan Mastiff. Also the famous kennel having a Tibetan Mastiff male, that cost 150.000 dollar!
I has seen and
done things more then I ever could have imagine, and there is so much
more to tell
